Purpose:To review the purpose, benefits, and recommended dosage of celecoxib and celecoxib capsules for the individual patient.
Methods:We conducted a focus article review to assess the relevance of celecoxib capsules to the individual patient and to assess the impact of acetaminophen consumption on the recommended dosage. We also conducted a literature search to identify studies evaluating the use of celecoxib capsules in the management of pain and inflammation.
Results:We identified several studies evaluating celecoxib capsules in the management of pain and inflammation. Acetaminophen was the most commonly prescribed medication, followed by NSAIDs, or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. We found several evidence-based recommendations regarding the dosage of celecoxib capsules based on patient needs. The overall recommendation is to consume moderate to high-dose celecoxib capsules daily and to follow a recommended dosage schedule.
Conclusions:Evidence-based recommendations regarding the recommended dosage of celecoxib capsules based on the patient's medical history and the therapeutic use of celecoxib suggest that the celecoxib capsule should be consumed at moderate to high doses. However, more research is needed to determine if higher-dose celecoxib capsules are equally effective for the individual patient.
